We woke up to 4" of snow the
morning of the wedding -in May!
It's all in the details...I never had the type of wedding I grew up wanting and yes, at 40 I still wanted a 'traditional' one. I even went for the cheesy matchy bm gowns, sort of, the girls on the groom side wore a black version of the bride's girls' gowns in aubergine. Not one of them complained, even my MOH's who paid for their own. My brother gave me away, but not before teasing me repeatedly about how he was going to send someone in his place b/c he didn't want to wear a tux! He did : )
Family and Friends are the reason we're here...
Longtime friend of Jeff's
family table
Special moments in our ceremony...
We gave each other's girls Family Medallions as our pledge to them to love them and care for them as our own and to recognize our union was not just ours as a couple, but bringing two families together.
I woke up one morning with a song on my heart and I ran into our office and said, "Jeff, do you remember the song 'Time in a Bottle' by Gordon Lightfoot?" and he said, "Do you mean Jim Croce?" That was it, our song for the ceremony. Thank goodness Brittany, my goddaughter, is an awesome and talented singer. She took a very glum 1970's song and picked it up belting out the chorous and it was beautiful. We both cried when she sang it at our rehearsal for everyone. I love the words...
If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that Id like to do
Is to save every day
Till eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
Id save every day like a treasure and then,
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
Ive looked around enough to know
That youre the one I want to go
Through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory
Of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do
Once you find them
Ive looked around enough to know
That youre the one I want to go
Through time with
Our Home
My DH doesn't have a "man room" he has an entire barn! Our view of Pike's Peak can be seen from the whole south side of the house on a clear day.
Pictures from top row left: Africa room, stair landing, Dining Room, Middle row: The Trophy Room (one reason my girls and I moved to his home instead of ours in Littleton.) Bottom row is the Elk Bathroom aka dh's 3/4 bath our first upstairs paint project and the light fixture is custom made from an Albuquerque, NM company we bought with wedding gift money.
I just can't stand the countertops in this house. They are mauve laminate from 17 years ago when it was 'in' to do southwest in mauve and teal. We just are not able to afford changing them out yet. This is one reason you don't see my kitchen! I was able to work around the teal couch and pull in lodge and mountain accessories to make it work. Otherwise the home is "Deannized as Jeff calls it! We completely redid the lower level of this raised ranch home for my girls so they could feel as though it was their home too. I'll get pics in when their rooms are clean! LOL.
Our Fur and Feather Babies
The chicks that became chickens! Yep they all have names.
And our dogs, Max and Jasmine, this is how they really feel about each other!

She was my 1st grade teacher!
